What We Can Learn From Adventure Books

By Marian Pelwas

Adventure books are a genre of literature that have a thrill brought to real life just via reading. These novels bring out an exciting undertaking involving risk and physical danger as a major theme that brings out the story from the novels. Without literature history is dead, science is crippled, religion is compromised and most importantly the imagination is extinct.

These novels are carefully crafted by blending suspense with danger. A reader will often sense the adrenaline rush as the plot develops through the pages. The suspense in this genre of literature is actually what makes the reader want to flip the next page. Once the reader gets engrossed in the plot, he or she will seldom want to be interrupted until the reading is completed.

Ever since the 19th century, literature has been on a path of transformation. Romance was originally the most common pieces of literature followed by dilemma. However, this genre has curved out a niche among readers of the present generation.

Novels are often voluminous but this notwithstanding; they are read through in a shot time. This is fueled by the plots that are pegged on suspense. Intrigue and suspense are good enough to keep an audience glued to a book.

How the novel eventually ends depends on the writer. Sometimes, the writer is telling a real life story and he would not therefore tamper with the end to favor a stereotype. Other times, the author might choose to end differently from the norm just to leave the readers wanting more.

Adventure books were not designed to be read and forgotten. They are meant to bring an impact and that is why creativity is a vital component in this novels. The writer has to be in perfect unison with creativity to not only drive the massage home but also do it in an environment of fun, intrigue, and suspense.
