Startup Tips In Becoming A Ben Franklin Reenactor

By Tanisha Berg

A lot of historical reenactments are performed to teach the people about historical events. These reenactments present the incidents and what happened during that time. The people who play the characters involved in these events are typically the reason why these presentations are successful.

Historical figures are also commonly reenacted. A Ben Franklin reenactor is a good example. The person playing the part looks like Benjamin Franklin as well as talks like him. He also acts as if he is the real Benjamin Franklin. There are certainly other roles that can be portrayed such as soldiers, medieval princesses, war doctors, and others.

Reenactments are commonly called living histories and most people fond of history would like to become a part of it. Reenacting is a form of recreation that many individuals are fond of. For this, an individual should be able to put into mind a few things so that he can be a reenactor.

Any person can certainly be a reenactor. Even little kids can be reenactors. However, their roles could be very limited. For those who are older, they could be portraying roles such as being veterans of war.

If participating in a very active role, such as in civil war reenactments, the actor should be in a very good physical condition. This type of reenactment is usually done in an open field. He may need to carry guns as well as other forms of armory. He may also need to perform in rainy weather so his health should permit him to do so. He also needs to prepare himself from the fact that there is no current technology to be used during the presentation.

If an actor has friends who are also into the same hobby, it would do him good. He may be able to share his historical ideas to them and, in return, they can share their knowledge with him, too. He can seek their opinions whether he is doing a good job in portraying the character he is reenacting or if he needs improvement.

The actor should be prepared financially. This is because he will be wearing the same clothes that the character he is depicting was wearing. These costumes are usually expensive and only several stores has stocks for this. It would be good if he knows other reenactors who can help him with the costumes. Most of them are willing to give a helping hand if they realize that the person also has the same hobby as them. An extensive research should be done on the costumes by the actor so that he will portray the character realistically.

The individual should also be having his own kit ready. For a Franklin reenactor, it may include a pair of eyeglasses and a cane. This kit would include the other items that the character he is portraying typically uses.

An additional comprehension of history would be a benefit for being part of these events. When an individual has all the things ready for his reenactment, he will have an opportunity to be a living history. Certainly, reenactments are serious yet very fun events.
