Ways To Teach Yourself Chinese Quickly

By Bernard Bowers

Deciding to attempt to learn Chinese is a brave endeavor since this is a very complex language not even close to the same as any other. The good news though is that there are a few ways to make it easier to learn Chinese which are covered here. Your progression may be slow, be patient with yourself and take what satisfaction you can get. Becoming fluent will take time and practice.

One aspect of learning Chinese that is very different from Western languages are the characters, which are more like pictures than our familiar letters. These characters are categorized into groups or radicals.

Once you've mastered this you'll be able to recognize some characters and really understand their meaning.

Enlist the help of your kids when learning a new language. Your youngest child will learn faster than you will. Make it fun for them. If you have children to practice with, you'll often find that they can pick up the language faster than you, and this can be helpful. With the help of age appropriate learning materials your children will be motivated to learn Chinese.

While you will want to learn Chinese characters as you progress in your study, when you are starting out it's helpful to not overwhelm yourself too much, and seeing words in familiar letters can make it easier. This method is however not one you want to rely on for pronunciation though. There are many tools to help the transition from your native language to Chinese.

Finally, don't approach this learning as a difficult one but rather as an adventure. You can enjoy the process of learning new words and becoming familiar with Chinese characters. Pick the right training materials to make your progress less hard and more appealing. These tactics can make it simpler to learn Chinese, but the main thing is to be consistent and learn a little more every day.
